Open Settings → Notifications. This pane is only operational alerts for you and your team. Recurring report emails live on Settings → Scheduled Reports.
Prerequisites
- Admin or Owner to change workspace notification preferences.
- A working from-address for email alerts is separate from chase mail, but chase mailbox readiness still matters for customer-facing sends.
Choose alerts
- Open Settings → Notifications.
- Under Notify me when, set Email and In app for each event you can edit.
- Press Save changes.
Two channels each: an email, and a notice inside PayBlah. Rows marked Always on cannot be switched off — they are stop signals or account-critical notices. An off-switch on those is how a stopped chase goes unnoticed.
Events you will see
- Payment received
- Dispute raised — Always on
- Reminder needs approval — a Firm or Final message is held for you
- Customer replied — Always on. A reply is waiting for review. Portal replies pause follow-up until you act; other channels hold the conversation for review. This is not an invoice “paused” state by itself.
- Promise to pay recorded / Promise date passed unpaid — included from Pro upwards when the row is locked
- A message could not send — Always on
- Accounting sync failed — Always on
- Text allowance running low — Growth+ when SMS exists for the account. SMS is not launched for customer send globally; treat this row as inactive until text chasing is actually on
- Active invoice capacity reached — Always on. New invoices wait for an active space
- Weekly summary
- Account and billing notices — Always on
- Payment Arrangement Missed — Always on. A plan instalment passed its grace deadline without the expected payment
Scheduled Reports is a different pane
At the bottom of Notifications, Send a recurring performance summary links to Manage Scheduled Reports. That opens the Scheduled Reports pane. Create, pause, resume, and archive schedules there — not on Notifications.
Expected result
New events honor the toggles you left on. Always-on rows ignore off switches by design. Plan-locked rows show a Growth or Pro badge and stay disabled.
If a row is missing
If the catalogue is empty, the pane says there is nothing to switch. Payment Arrangement Missed is added by a later migration; older tenants should already have it after migrate.
What this will not do
- It will not send report digests — that is Scheduled Reports.
- It will not launch SMS. The text-allowance row is not a how-to for sending texts.
- It will not let you mute dispute, reply, send-failed, sync-failed, capacity, billing, or missed-arrangement alerts.
