PayBlah stores two roles only: Admin and Standard. Settings says it plainly: “Two roles, kept simple: Admins can change settings, Standard users can't.” The Owner badge marks one live Admin. It is not a third role you can invite someone into.
What each role can do
| Task | Standard | Admin | Owner badge |
|---|---|---|---|
| View invoices, customers, Workflows, activity, reports | Yes | Yes | Same as Admin |

The live Owner is always an Admin. Admins also manage Scheduled Reports. There is no guest, accountant, or custom role, and no per-screen permission matrix.
Change someone's role
- Open Settings → Team as an Admin.
- Find the person in the list. The Owner row shows an Owner badge and has no role control.
- Pick Admin or Standard from their role control.
- Press Save role.
The change applies on their next action. You cannot invite or assign a second Owner from this control — use Make owner for that.
The Owner badge
The first accepted account on the workspace is the Owner. That person always has Admin powers and cannot be archived or demoted in place. To hand the company to someone else, the current Owner promotes a live Admin with Make owner. After the transfer they remain an Admin. There is only one live Owner at a time.
Switch or add a business
- Any accepted member can open Switch Business in the sidebar. The page heading is Choose a workspace.
- Each row shows the business name, country, currency, Owner or role, and a status pill. It does not list the plan name.
- Press Switch on a ready workspace, or Open dashboard on the one you are already in. Isolation is complete — invoices, customers, and settings do not mix.
- To create another business, you must be an Admin on Business or Enterprise. The form is Add another business; press Add business. Country and currency are copied from your first business (you do not pick them here).
Standard members see “Ask an Admin to add or manage business workspaces.” Admins on a lower plan see “Additional business workspaces are included with Business and Enterprise” and See Business plan. A workspace that is still preparing, or that shows as not currently available, cannot be switched into from this list.
What this will not do
- Standard is not a read-only guest mode. They can still act on invoices and customers; they just cannot reconfigure the business.
- There is no SSO, SAML, or custom RBAC in the product today.
- This article does not document PayBlah staff console roles.
