Getting started

First-day checklist

Work the dashboard checklist in order: business details, overdue invoices, email sending, first Workflow, then protections. Standard users may not see it.

9 of 13 in Getting started

Plan: The dashboard checklist is for Admins (and Owners) on the 30-day Starter trial and paid plans. Standard members do not see it. Locked Growth items do not count toward progress.

Day one is the live checklist on Dashboard, not a morning/midday/afternoon script and not a “Workflow Pack” catalogue. Work the titles PayBlah actually shows so you do not surprise customers.

Who can do this

  • Admins see Setup help and the card Finish setting up PayBlah (kicker Getting started, or Setup complete / You’re ready to use PayBlah when every applicable row is done).
  • Standard users do not get this checklist. Their guidance lives on the pages they can use. Ask an Admin to finish setup.

Before the checklist

  1. Sign up: Start your free trialStart your 30-day trial. Prefer Blank if you will activate the same day. Demo book is live sample data and can be emailed after Start following up. Isolated /app/demo is the one that cannot send.
  2. Confirm email, save recovery codes, then Continue to login.
  3. Sign in at /app/login (Log in, then One more step).
  4. Confirm nav: Dashboard, Invoices, Customers, Workflows, Activity, Reports, Settings, Support. Payment Plans appears when that feature is on — there is no nav item named Arrangements.

Work the live checklist

Open Dashboard. If the card is hidden, Setup helpShow setup checklist. Each row uses the title and button below.

  1. Add business detailsAdd. Identity customers will see on reminders.
  2. Import overdue invoicesImport. Connect accounting if it is already available, upload a spreadsheet, or add one invoice. Continue only when overdue rows exist.
  3. Confirm email sendingConnect. Choose a ready sender you own and the reply address. No PayBlah shared-domain mailbox.
  4. Activate your first WorkflowActivate. Review the journey, choose invoices, then Start following up only when the book looks right.
  5. Connect customer paymentsConnect. Shown only when a customer-payment provider is already available on the account. Payments go to your provider; PayBlah only reads status events.
  6. Review built-in protectionsReview. Quiet hours, payment stops, disputes, and approvals.
  7. On Starter, two locked rows appear and do not count: Text messages and Reminder letters (Included from Growth) with See plans.
  8. On Growth and above: Set up text messages / Set up reminder letters / Invite a teammate with Set up or Invite. Letters are PDFs you download, print, and mark as sent — PayBlah does not post them.

The card shows N of T complete. Collapse or Hide setup checklist as you like. Footer: Take the Two-Minute Tour (18 in-product stops: Dashboard through Settings). Other Setup help actions: Reset onboarding tips, Explore the safe demo, Open Help & Support.

What you should see

Rows flip to Done from saved account evidence. After activate: Your first Workflow is live. Dashboard hero reads Overdue payments recorded. Sidebar: Payments · Last 30 Days.

If something goes wrong

  • No checklist: you are probably Standard, or an Admin hid it.
  • Invoices look wrong: do not click Start following up. Fix names and Never chase on Customers first.
  • Need a sandbox: Explore the safe demo, not Demo book, if you must not be able to send.

What not to do on day one

  • Do not treat PayBlah as a collection agency. You own the relationship and the send.
  • Do not skip Never chase for accounts that must never get automated reminders.
  • Do not mix isolated /app/demo with signup Demo book.
