Customers and invoices

Turn on Never chase

An Admin turns Never chase on from the customer header. It saves immediately. Standard members see Never contact and cannot change it.

8 of 10 in Customers and invoices

Plan: The rail exists on every plan including trial (Starter). Only an Admin can turn it on or off. There is no extra Save click — the switch posts immediately.

Some accounts must never receive automated reminders — a strategic client, a legal hold, or an internal entity. The customer-level rail is that hard stop. The product shows two labels for the same setting: Admins see Never chase; Standard members and the success flash say Never contact.

Before you start

  • You must be an Admin (or Owner — Owners are Admins) to change the rail.
  • Standard members can still pause a single invoice, raise a dispute, or ask an Admin to flip the rail.

Turn Never chase on (Admin)

  1. Open Customers and select the company.
  2. In the header, find the Never chase switch. Helper text: No reminders will ever send to this customer.
  3. Switch it on. The form submits on that change. A noscript Save exists only if JavaScript is off.

Expected flash: Never contact is on — no reminder will send to this customer until you turn it off. Automated workflow steps will not go to that company. Open invoices stay visible for notes, promises, and disputes. List badges show Never chase / invoices read Not chasing.

What a Standard member sees

  1. Open the same customer.
  2. Read Never contact or Never contact · on and Only an Admin can change this rail.
  3. Do not expect a working switch. The POST is refused with Only an Admin can change the never-chase rail.

Turn it off later (Admin)

  1. Return to the customer header.
  2. Switch Never chase off. It saves immediately.
  3. Review each invoice’s enrolment before you assume chasing has restarted.

Expected flash: Never contact is off — this customer is back in the normal workflow.

From a stop request

If the customer asked you to stop via the portal, the banner is still Stop request — still chasing until you decide. An Admin who clicks Accept can choose Never follow up with this customer or Both — never follow up and suppress. That is the same rail. A portal request never flips it on its own.

If something looks wrong

  • You flipped the switch and nothing saved — you are not an Admin, or the page failed to post. Reload and check the label.
  • One invoice should hold, not the whole customer — use Pause chasing, a promise, or a dispute on that invoice instead.

What this does not do

  • It does not delete invoices or mark them paid.
  • It does not block notes, promises, or disputes.
  • It is not legal advice and not a collection instruction.
