A broken promise means: the promised date plus grace passed, the balance is still open, and the commitment was not met. PayBlah surfaces that for a person. It does not invent court, credit, or enforcement wording, and it does not “step the sequence up” to a legal rung by itself.
Before you start
- Check whether money landed late — a recorded payment can keep or partially keep the promise.
- A portal Pay part of it click is still not money. Only Mark paid, a Stripe Checkout webhook, or a later import/sync writes a payment.
Review in Activity
- Open Activity → Promises (section heading Promises & Payment Arrangements).
- Open cards show badge Open promise or Due for evaluation, with promised / received / outstanding / grace deadline.
- After evaluation, kept / partial / broken standalone promises wait here. Press Open invoice to read the note.
- Press Acknowledge to clear the review without restarting follow-up, or Acknowledge & resume when resume is offered. Resume confirms: “Resume normal follow-up on the remaining balance?”
- Payment Arrangement instalments that are short or missed use Open Payment Arrangement and Mark as Reviewed — not the standalone acknowledge pair.
The same Acknowledge / Acknowledge & resume pair also sits on the invoice promise card when the outcome still needs attention.
What you should see
- Acknowledge alone marks the review handled. It does not send a message.
- Acknowledge & resume, when allowed, returns an outstanding invoice to chasing or open (enrolment decides) and clears the pause. It does not queue a Firm or Final template.
- If the next Workflow step is Firm or Final, that draft still waits in Activity → Approvals for Approve & send or Don't send.
What not to do
- Do not free-type court, enforcement, or credit-rating threats. That wording is held for extra confirmation and logging.
- Do not treat a missed date as permission to stack heated messages.
- Do not assume the catalogue line “chasing escalates a step” is live behaviour — Activity requires a human press.
If something goes wrong
If they still cannot pay on one date, offer a Payment Plan rather than stacking one-off promises. If they paid you but PayBlah has no payment row, record it first — then the promise evaluator can see the money.
