Billing

Cancel your subscription

An Admin cancels from Billing with Cancel at Period End. You keep access through the period you paid for. Immediate cancel is only for a past-due subscription. The 90-day retention clock is for expired trials, not a normal paid cancel.

Plan: Paid subscriptions (status trialing, active or past_due). An expired trial without a paid plan uses the trial-ended page, not this button. Only an Admin can cancel.

Cancelling the PayBlah subscription is not the same as a customer asking you to stop chasing. Portal STOP and SMS STOP do not cancel your plan.

Prerequisites

  • You must be an Admin. Other roles can read Billing but cannot post cancel.
  • A live subscription in trialing, active or past_due that is not already set to cancel at period end.

Before you cancel

  1. Open Billing and read the period dates on Current Plan.
  2. Count invoices still in follow-up, plus promises and payment plans you will service outside PayBlah.
  3. Export reports and any data you need for your accountant while you still have full access.

Cancel at period end

  1. On Current Plan, press Cancel at Period End.
  2. Read the date on the card. When a period end is recorded, copy says cancellation takes effect on that date and service continues until then.
  3. After success, Billing confirms: Your subscription will end on [date]. You keep access until then.

Automated sending stops when the subscription is no longer live — not on the day you press the button, unless the cancel is immediate (below).

Immediate cancel (past due only)

Immediate cancellation is available only while the subscription is past_due. A tenant Admin cannot force an immediate cancel on an active or trialing term. If that is attempted, Billing returns: Immediate cancellation is available only while a subscription is past due.

When immediate cancel does apply, entitlements are withdrawn at once: Your subscription has been cancelled. Entitlements were withdrawn.

What the 90-day window is (and is not)

  • Expired trial: after the 30-day trial ends without a paid plan, data is retained for 90 days, then the tenant is eligible for irreversible purge. Export from the trial-ended page. See Trial and what happens after.
  • Paid cancel: you keep access until period end. That is not the trial 90-day purge clock. Do not wait for a 90-day paid-cancel window that the product does not promise.

Refunds

Whether any prepaid annual amount is refundable is set by PayBlah’s terms — the Billing screen does not invent a refund. See Refunds & Cancellation (draft website policy; confirm with counsel before relying on it).

What still matters after cancel

  • You remain the creditor for every customer invoice. PayBlah never owned the debt.
  • Payment plans with customers are your agreements — export the schedule so you can keep honouring them.
  • Customer portal links may stop working when the account is fully offline; do not rely on them after you leave.

If you only need a cheaper tier, use Change Plan and Schedule Downgrade so history and connections stay.

Expected result

Billing shows that the subscription cancels on the period-end date. You keep using the workspace until that date. Sending stops when the subscription is no longer live.

If something looks wrong

  • No button: you are not an Admin, the status is not cancellable, or cancel-at-period-end is already set.
  • Need to leave during a trial instead: use Export my data on the trial-ended page; there is no classic paid-cancel button on an expired trial.
  • Past-due recovery: paying the failed invoice is a different path from cancel. If you stay past_due, immediate cancel may be available — confirm status on Current Plan.
