The Connections catalogue labels this package QuickBooks (slug quickbooks). The adapter is QuickBooks Online. Connect / Reconnect is always on the card. That is not the same as a registered PayBlah Intuit app reading your company file.
When the package is unconfigured, the helper says PayBlah has no app registered with QuickBooks yet, so this connects to sample data rather than your books. Sandbox stays inside PayBlah. It does not open Intuit’s authorize page. The product’s QuickBooks sandbox-API flag is a separate host switch for the day real tokens exist — it does not make production OAuth live now.
What to use for your real invoices
Import CSV or XLSX (not .xls). Required: Contact first name, Invoice number, Due date, Amount outstanding. Company name is optional. Currency is workspace-local. Google Sheets is not an importer.
Connect QuickBooks (what the button does now)
- Sign in as an Admin → Settings → Connections.
- Under Accounting software, find QuickBooks.
- Click Connect, or Reconnect if a row already exists.
- Sandbox / unconfigured: the app returns to its own callback with fixture data, including a sandbox company id so that path is exercised.
- Expect a connection card that may show sandbox — fixture data, a schedule, and last synced / never synced.
- If the row can sync, use Sync now. If you see Needs reconnecting, Sync is withheld until you Reconnect.
- Check Invoices and Customers. Treat fixture names as sample data.
When production OAuth later exists
The same button is intended to send an Admin to Intuit to authorize one company. PayBlah would then read the nine allowed fields (plus address only if reminder letters are on). Until vendor registration and credentials exist, do not treat vendor redirect as current behaviour.
Expected result
Today: a sandbox QuickBooks row and/or your CSV/XLSX register. Not: live invoices from your QuickBooks company. Connecting does not email customers.
If something goes wrong
- Non-Admin → “Only an Admin can connect accounting software.”
- No-credentials / Needs reconnecting — expected until a real grant exists.
- Xero and Sage Accounting on the same list follow the same honesty. FreeAgent, MYOB and similar names are not launched.
