Install, pause, resume, or remove an app

This lifecycle applies only to the nine published native apps. Workflow Pack Library, Zapier, Make.com, n8n, and existing Connections (Xero, mailbox, Stripe, SMS) are pointers — open their own screens instead. Draft adapters are not listed for tenants, so there is nothing here to Connect.

Prerequisites

• App Hub is switched on and you can open Apps.
• You are an Admin. The refusal copy is Only an Admin can install apps. (or pause / resume / remove).
• New installs may still be paused even when the hub is visible. In that case install fails closed with New App Hub installations are paused.

Install a published native app

1. Open Apps → Discover (Approved Apps).
2. On the app card, press Review & Install. (There is no lone Install button on the catalogue.)
3. Read What This App Can Access and Plan Requirement (Every Plan, Growth or Higher, or Pro or Higher).
4. In the Review & Install panel, leave required grants ticked. Optional grants are your choice.
5. Press Install {name} — for example Install Reminder Calendar.

On success you land on the Installed App page (or Installed if no id). Flash copy is typically App installed. You can then press Open App when the install is Active and allowed to run.

Pause App

1. From Discover or Installed, press Manage App (or Manage on the Installed list).
2. Under App Controls, enter a Reason for Pausing of at least 6 characters.
3. Press Pause App.

The badge becomes Paused. Effects stop. Configuration is kept. Native modules either show an unavailable state or are not found until you resume.

Resume App

1. Open the same Installed App page.
2. Enter a Reason for Resuming of at least 6 characters.
3. Press Resume App.

Remove App

Remove is available only while the status is Active or Paused. A Needs Attention (failed) install does not show Remove or a fake Connect. The on-screen copy is that PayBlah will not display fake Connect or Remove controls; the failed install stays as non-runnable audit evidence.

1. Open App Controls and expand Remove App.
2. Read the Data policy for that app. Removal does not delete core invoices, customers, or workflows.
3. Enter a Reason for Removal of at least 6 characters.
4. Tick I understand the data policy above and that app credentials will be revoked.
5. Press Remove App.

If the install is already Removing, the control is Finish Removal. The checkbox is I understand the data policy above and want to finish removal.

While status is Finishing Setup or Access Revoked, no tenant pause/resume/remove action is offered.

Expected result

Install creates one workspace installation for that published version. Pause stops the app. Resume restores it. Remove makes it non-runnable, drains started work, revokes credentials and grants, and keeps audit evidence. Reinstall, where allowed, may restore access to retained app-owned records (see each app’s data policy).

If install or a control fails

• Only an Admin can install apps. — ask an Admin.
• This workspace plan does not include that app. — Plan Requirement is not met.
• This exact app version is not available to install in this workspace. — not published, not available, or version mismatch.
• That connection is managed from its existing PayBlah setup page. — you tried to install a pointer.
• That app already has a live installation in this workspace. — use Manage App.
• The app was not installed. No existing app settings were changed. — fail-closed; try again or contact support.
• Enter a reason of at least 6 characters. — pause, resume, and remove all require it.
• Confirm that this app should be removed and its credentials revoked. — tick the confirm box.
• This App Cannot Run — effective state is blocked; read the reason on the page.

What this will not do

• These controls do not send customer reminders or move money.
• They do not install Workflow Pack Library, Zapier, Make.com, n8n, or Connections.
• They do not expose draft adapters or a Connect button for unfinished providers.
